Keep the lights burning!

Dear Friend of Beach Hillel,
Where else can a Jewish student learn to bake challah, test their softball skills, and gain confidence in confronting anti-Israel bias on campus?
Beach Hillel keeps the candles burning for Jewish students year round. As more and more students participate in our programs-Beach Hillel needs your help to keep the candles burning.
Here is a snapshot of what Beach Hillel is all about:
- We foster Jewish pride, love of Israel and prepare students for participation in Jewish communal life.
- We serve thousands of delicious, home-cooked Shabbat dinners every semester in a welcoming environment where Jewish students feel at home.
- We send students to Israel on free Birthright Trips, and promote hundreds of opportunities with Jewish organizations worldwide.
- We run Holiday programs from Rosh Hashanah until Yom Haatzmaut.
- We keeps students connected at two local Jewish student houses, on our website BeachHillel.com, through Facebook, and
- We organize the largest Jewish student weekend in the Western United States—Jewlicious Festival—for 500 students from over 50 schools.
- We prepare students to be future Jewish leaders.
Your support is our future and the future of the Jewish Community.
We are supported entirely by local donations by caring people like you.
We need to raise $25,000 this month to keep our programs running for the coming semester.
Every donation helps. Every dollar from this Hanukkah appeal goes directly to programming. Your contribution today means that we can continue the high level of programs and services that we provide for hundreds of Jewish students each month.
May you and your family be blessed this Hanukkah with joy and good health!

Monster Menorah IV
November 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Chanukah’s most recognized symbol is getting an extreme makeover again!
Just in time for 2007 Chanukah season, Beach Hillel unleashes Monster Menorah III, hoping to find this year’s most outrageous and creative college-student made menorah. Grand prize is $250, which ain’t too shabby either.
The Menorah is a nine-branched candelabra lit during the eight days of Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. The Menorah celebrates the light of religious freedom, which pierced the darkness of tyranny and persecution.
Monster Menorah is a student creativity competition open to all students regardless of race, color, faith, sexual orientation, or nationality, sponsored by Beach Hillel. Voting is open to all students at the Beach Hillel Tent on December 5, 2007.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
To qualify for the competition, menorahs must be delivered to the Beach Hillel table in front of the California State University Long Beach Bookstore by 10am, December 5, 2007. In addition, all entries must follow the competition guidelines below and be accompanied by a registration form on day of competition. Any entry that is deemed offensive by the organizers will be disqualified.
